Ribes nigrum, Grossulariaceae family
A European shrub cultivated for its berries, the Blackcurrant shrub is also known for the incredible aroma of its leaves and its effectiveness on rheumatic pains. The leaves contain an essential oil, flavonoids and anthocyanosides and are traditionally used in joint, venous and urinary problems.
They can be combined with a thermal spring cure for their diuretic properties. They also lower blood pressure.
Use & Special precautions

5 g (1 pinch) per litre of water, infuse for 5 min. Drink 2 to 3 cups a day.
Properties and beneficial combinations
- for smoother joints: mix with 10 g nettles and 5 g of Meadowsweet. Drink 3 cups a day.
Do not use Meadowsweet if you are allergic to salicylates. Great in combination with our Aromatic Rheumatic Complex. If you are experiencing joint problems, remember to also try Harpagophytum in 10 day cures.
- for lighter legs: infuse the blackcurrant with 5 g of red vine and use our Arthro'arôm Rheumatic Complex.
