Description
Tilia platyphyllos, Tiliaceae family.
Wild linden inflorescences combine powerful active ingredients, a suave flavour and soothing and softening properties. They contain polyphenols, mucilage and essential oil. Linden is traditionally used to facilitate sleep, and to alleviate fissures, insect bites and irritations.. Popular medicine has been using it for centuries to help cure colds.
The Linden tree is a sacred tree full of symbols, stories and legends. Its flowers in full bloom emanate incredibly sweet fragrances. The gathering process in ‘Buis-les-Baronnies’ is an artisan craft and family practice where for nearly 200 years the same gestures have been repeated identically, preserved and passed down from generation to generation. Organic Provençal Linden, and even more so the Linden of ‘Les Baronnies Provençales’, is distinguished by its broad bract (a small leaf-like structure usually found underlying another plant structure ) which is carefully selected amongst the best specimens. Preparation
Add 5g (10 inflorescences) per litre of water. Infuse for 10 minutes. Drink a cup in the evening to promote the onset of sleep or 3 cups a day for cold and shivers. Do not exceed the recommended doses as Linden becomes stimulant at higher doses.
Properties and beneficial combinations
- to relieve anxieties and agitation: add 1 tsp of lavender flowers to your Linden tea. Spray Lavender on your bedding.
- to relieve irritations: clean the irritated area with a lukewarm Teal infusion, or use Linden hydrolate; dry and apply a drop of Aspic lavender essential oil.
