Description

Rosmarinus officinalis, Lamiaceae family.

A shrub with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves and white, pink, purple, or blue flowers, native to the Mediterranean region. Often accompanies Thyme in the scrublands, on limestone soils.

Its pale blue flowers give Narbonne honey a powerful taste. 

Rosemary is traditionally used as a liver stimulant (gallbladder, elimination of toxins), diuretic, laxative, expectorant, anti-inflammatory, spasmolytic. Its leaves and flowers contain flavonoids, phenolic acids, phytosterols, and an essential oil composed of cineole and camphor.

Use & Special precautions

Preparation:

5 g (1 large pinch) per 25 cl of water, steep for 10 min and drink a cup after each meal for intestinal well-being. To clear the airways, use 10 g per cup and drink 3 cups per day.

Properties and beneficial combinations

- to calm intestinal spasms: add 2 star anise and steep for 10 min.

- for a rejuvenating bath to relieve rheumatic pains: prepare a strong infusion with 50 g of Rosemary and 50 g of Heather in 1 litre of water, steep for 30 minutes before adding to a hot bath.
